Panel: What Patients Want
Panelist: Rachel Pryzby, VP, Client Partnership and Growth Strategy, Patient Communications

Panelists discussed what meaningful patient partnership looks like in practice and how to translate insights into communications patients can understand and trust.

Key things to think about:

  • Coordinated communication matters. Patients shouldn’t have to piece together their own journey from fragmented messages. We need to work harder to build systems where comms are joined up across every touchpoint
  • Language evolves—and so should we. For example, terms like “hard to reach populations” shift blame to patients, instead of the systems designed to support them.  Inclusive language isn’t a one-time fix; it’s a continuous practice of checking our assumptions and adapting
  • Rethink “engagement.” Most patients aren’t unmotivated. They’re overwhelmed by jargon, forms, fragmented systems, work, life. People respond to being respected, believed, and shown small, achievable steps. They don’t want to be activated. They want to be supported
