Ron Akehurst BSc, DSc, MFPH

Ron joined the company as a board member and owner in 2012.

He is Emeritus Professor of Health Economics at the University of Sheffield in the Sheffield Centre for Health and Related Research (SCHARR). He founded the Centre in 1993 and served as its Dean for 17 years. He is widely published in Health Economics.

Ron was a founding member of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Technology Appraisal Committee and a Scientific Adviser on the NICE Scientific Advice Programme. He also served as a member of the NICE Diagnostics Evaluation Committee and the Highly Specialised Technologies Committee between April 2013 and November 2022. He stepped down from the Rare Diseases Advisory Group of the National Health Service (NHS) England in 2023.

Ron has experience working with a range of governmental bodies, advisory committees, and pharmaceutical companies to advise, provide training, and develop strategic and implementation plans. He has also been involved in preparing health technology assessment (HTA) submissions in a wide variety of markets including the UK, Sweden, Germany, Australia, and Canada.

Ron has recently focused on providing strategic advice on the design of evidence collection and presentation to support registration and reimbursement in multiple jurisdictions.
