On April 2, 2025, Lumanity will once again host Cancer Progress, an event that seamlessly blends innovation and philanthropy in the fight against cancer. Taking place in New York City, this premier gathering brings together experts to address the most pressing challenges in oncology and jointly work towards groundbreaking advances.
This year’s event will support the “Timmerman Traverse for Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation” challenge. In a remarkable show of dedication and endurance, 14 intrepid biopharma professionals will undertake a gruelling 10-day trek through the majestic Himalayas, covering 38 miles (60+ kilometres) and up to an altitude of 18,519’ (5,644m) atop Kala Patthar (a peak right by Everest base camp).
Each participant aims to raise $50,000 for the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. Representing Lumanity in this heroic effort is Martin Strebl-Bantillo, Principal, Strategy Consulting, whose passions for advancing oncology innovation and the great outdoors are the driving force behind his participation.
With 100% of proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships going to this crucial cause, the event will significantly contribute to funding high-risk, high-reward cancer research, spurring life-saving discoveries and treatments. The Timmerman Traverse represents more than just a tremendous physical effort; it symbolizes the uphill battle faced by cancer researchers and patients alike. Each step taken by Martin and his fellow climbers will bring us closer to breakthroughs that could change lives.
