Ron Akehurst BSc, DSc, MFPH
Ron is Emeritus Professor of Health Economics at the University of Sheffield in the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR). He founded the School in 1993 and served as Dean for 17 years. He joined the company (formerly BresMed) as a board member in 2012.
Ron is a member of the Rare Diseases Advisory Group of NHS England. He was a founding member of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) technology appraisal committee and currently serves as a Scientific Adviser on the NICE Scientific Advice Programme. Ron served as a member of the NICE Highly Specialised Technologies Committee from April 2013 to November 2022.
Ron has experience working with a range of governmental bodies, advisory committees and pharmaceutical companies to advise, provide training and develop strategic and implementation plans. He has also been involved in preparing health technology assessment (HTA) submissions in a wide variety of markets including the UK, Sweden, Germany, Australia and Canada.
Recently Ron has focused on providing strategic advice on the design of evidence collection and presentation to support registration and reimbursement in multiple jurisdictions.
