I had the incredible opportunity to intern with the Lumanity Strategy Consulting Internship Program this summer. Thanks to the tremendous support and guidance I received from experts in the field, I gained experience in asset and organizational strategy consulting.  I had the privilege of working closely with Moses Zeidan, associate and Riley Fotis, associate, benefiting from the leadership of Martin Strebl-Bantillo, principal and Alissa Clear, manager and receiving thoughtful mentorship from Varun Bahl, senior associate. They are all truly invested in my success, and I am grateful for their support.

One of the highlights of my summer was working on an oncology project.  This experience piqued my interest and excitement for oncology, as I gained a depth of knowledge of the standard of care in a specific therapeutic area including the nuanced advantages and disadvantages distinguishing various treatment options and how physicians think this rapidly growing space may evolve in the next few years. It was a well-rounded experience, helping me hone many skills. For example, I learned how to be more fluent in the terminology of this therapeutic area, analyze a large dataset from a quantitative survey, and how to synthesize this information into strategic recommendations. In addition to these technical skills, I also developed my soft skills in integrating myself into the team and crafting more nuanced narratives for client presentations and reports. I knew I had demonstrated real growth when tasked with leading a PMR (Primary Market Research) interview. Everyone is trusted to make meaningful impacts here, and that is one of the things that drew me to Lumanity in the first place.

I would recommend this internship to anyone who is intellectually curious, proactive, and a team player interested in the life sciences. My intern cohort consisted of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including computer science, engineering, and more. Despite our varied expertise, we all found success by showcasing these attributes. Lumanity also values connection building through various company events and coffee chats, allowing me to learn about my colleagues on a more personal level. My favorite event was the Red Sox game! It was an amazing summer, and I’m grateful to have had this opportunity.
